With less than 120 days left until summer 2025, the Clubhouse Renovation Project is nearing completion! The project has gone through quite a journey. It started back in December 2023 with our engineers, architects and construction team surveying the building. They made drawings, filed for permitting, and worked with our team on planning.
Construction started in September 2024 with KR Adams Construction, led by Craig Adams and Matt Ladd, who have worked on camp’s property for over 25 years. Craig and his team started the project by removing walls, flooring and rotten wood. A concrete foundation was installed, as well as a new floor and front wall. The roof has been leveled and walls straightened. The KR Adams Construction team led the charge fearlessly. The floor needed to be raised over 12 inches to make it level. This was quite the undertaking. The construction team devised hydraulic lifts to raise the building.
Fast forward to February 2025, and with the new floors, straightened walls and level roof, interior work is continuing on the Clubhouse. All new windows, in the iconic Brown Ledge chrome green, have been installed. Currently, the team is working on polyurethaning the interior walls and installing v-groove wood plank siding in the interior. The electrician will be out soon to continue the next phase of wiring the building.
This project also includes the reworking of the additional rooms connected to the Clubhouse, on the side nearest to Lakeside. These rooms have recently been known as Squirrels Nest, the Garden Shed, and the JC Room. Over the years, these spaces have been used in many different ways, and the current renovations will allow Brown Ledge to continue to use the spaces in a flexible manner. The space will be split into three separate rooms with built-in storage.
Still to come, the large exterior door from the road to the Clubhouse will be installed, as well as the entrance door to the Dance Studio. Inside, we are in the process of replacing the curtain that previously divided the Clubhouse and Dance Studio with a wall and large sliding door. Once the weather gets a bit warmer, our construction team will sand and polyurethane the floor and install new roof shingles.
Our excavating crew will also work on the road, ensuring the Clubhouse is accessible and that rain water is adequately diverted around the Clubhouse. The finishing touches will be new siding on the front and sides of the Clubhouse to continue the classic BLC look, as well as outfitting the building with smart storage systems for games, the Sunday morning TV, and furniture.
We will continue to update you as the project continues. We cannot wait for everyone to see the renovated Clubhouse this summer!
THANK YOU to everyone who has donated. We could not do this project without your support!
