Please do not think that all parents visit, or that parents are expected to visit!

Many parents prefer to communicate via letters and the occasional phone call. If you do visit, please do not plan to visit frequently. Frequent visits may erode your camper’s sense of independence and focus on camp. A good rule of thumb is one visit per month. Also, please let your camper know when you will be visiting! You’ll see a sign at the entrance of camp directing you to call the office to let us know you’re here – please be sure to do that!

When visiting, parents may take their own camper out of camp for short periods. We ask that you do not take any bunkies or friends out of camp with you. Only your daughter may leave with you.

We ask that campers miss only one meal per day.

A few other important notes about visiting:

  • Monday through Friday – all campers must be back in camp by 8 PM
  • Saturdays & Sundays – all campers must be back in camp by 7 PM
  • All campers must sign-out on the office door and clear all commitments at camp before leaving.
    • NOTE: The theater department has rehearsals during the day on Saturdays before the performances that night. Campers involved in the performances may not leave camp that day unless specific permission is given by the theater staff.
  • All campers leaving camp must have her own seat belt and must buckle-up at all times in the car. Parents are asked to assure that this happens.
  • Campers are allowed to leave camp with parents only. We must have specific written permission for any other relatives or family friends that plan to take your daughter out from camp.
  • Note that rules are slightly different for Junior Counselors. Please check your specific guidelines.

For Alumni

We often hear from our wonderful alums asking if they can come visit while camp is in session. Here are some guidelines to follow if you’re considering visiting BLC during the camp season:

  • Alumnae can visit after the first two weeks of each session. (see the dates above)
  • Feel free to join us for a show on Saturday night, but know that seats might be limited depending on the weekend! If you have a camper at camp, please refer to the information above and/or the Family Handbook.
  • We ask that you plan to eat meals outside of camp and not in the Dining Hall.
  • Unfortunately, we can’t have you participate in activities, but please consider joining us for Alumni camp if you’re eager to get back to your favorite activities at BLC!

Please be sure to email [email protected] to let us know when you’re coming.
