2020 has been rough. We all watched the campers of 2020 lose an entire summer of forging their own paths and building lifelong friendships at Brown Ledge Camp. As parents, we watched our kids sulk around the house without a BLC summer to acquire life skills that are only possible at camp. As alumni, we lost the chance to spend time together at Work Weekend or visit for a Saturday Night at Brown Ledge. Our hearts were broken by the unimaginable “Skip Year” we all shared.

It is no secret that Brown Ledge is currently facing a challenge unlike any before. Despite the unprecedented pause for summer 2020, we are confident the Brown Ledge community can come together and ensure that camp can run in 2021 and beyond.

An integral part of this plan is a new health center that is equipped to manage our campers’ medical needs – especially in the midst of a global pandemic. As you may have seen in the 2020 State of Camp video, the plans to build a new health center started in 2019 but were put on hold as camp braced for a year with no summer program. Now, more than ever, finishing our health center is absolutely vital to running our summer as close to normal as possible for the 2021 season.

Give Today to Finish
BLC’s New Health Center

With this new facility, our medical staff will be able to treat multiple campers simultaneously and provide temporary quarantine space if needed. It will not only prepare us for the needs we face in 2021, but it will also make BLC safer and better able to serve the needs of our camp community into the future.

Important features of the new health center include:

  • Additional camper beds
  • Living quarters for one health center staff member
  • A full bathroom
  • Air conditioning
  • A private room for confidential medical conversations
  • Increased accessibility per ADA regulations

The projected cost of completing the new health center is $75,000. To be able to open camp in June, this facility is essential — and we believe that together we can make this happen. Please join us today in supporting the health center project.

There are multiple ways to make a tax-deductible donation. Use our online giving form, or visit brownledge.org/give to give in the way that works best for you. We all know that Brown Ledgers stick together, and that Brown Ledge spirit NEVER dies!
